LET IT BURN - The Song
I had my heart completely broken 💔 Not in the usual “oh, that’s sad - I lost love” way but in a devastating domino of events that had literally led me to have a nervous breakdown. In a public place. With messy crying.
I knew I had to unravel almost everything I thought I knew about myself, about love, and about the relationship I had given so much of myself away for - but it felt like a never ending hill that I had to climb, all on my own.
So, I started looking for books, podcasts, articles, videos, teachers - anyone and anything that could help me figure out how I’d lost myself so completely, and help me find my way back to who I wanted to be.
As I started putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, it felt like my brain was on a constant loop of questions, spiralling deeper and darker down the more I tried to find the answers….
What did I do wrong? Have I been expecting too much from my life, and the people in it? Have I been expecting too little? How did I not see what was happening right in front of my eyes? Was I losing my mind?
Somewhere along the way, I realised that I’d stopped listening to my own voice. I wasn’t trusting myself, loving myself or backing anything that I said I wanted. I was like a plastic bag in the wind - floating aimlessly, in whichever direction I was pushed.
One night something clicked. When one part of us dies, a space opens up for a new part of us to be born. I wanted to build something new for myself…. so the old ways had to burn 🔥
I wrote my song LET IT BURN from a place of acceptance for what had been, compassion for who I had been, and willingness to let go and step into a new version of myself. I think we all deserve the chance to do that.
